  15. Welcome to The History of Denim CD-ROM
  16.  
  17. The History of Denim CD-ROM is a entertaining and comprehensive look at the most famous of all fabrics, denim. Originally called Serge de Nimes (cloth of Nimes), denim was used primarily for workman's clothing. Over time, it has become a favorite material for even Haute Couture. The History of Denim CD-ROM celebrates the rich history of the cloth and we hope that you will enjoy learning it, stitch by stitch.

  21. Installation

  23. 1. Put the CD-ROM in your CD drive.
  24. 2. From the Run Menu type the drive letter for your CD-ROM, ":\setup.exe", e.g. "D:\setup.exe".
  25. 3. Follow the directions for installing the program.
  26. 4. The installer will then automatically load the QuickTime installer.
  27. 5. Follow the directions for installing the QuickTime.
  28. 6. For Windows 95 users, click on the Start Menu, select Programs, then History of Denim, then History of Denim to launch the program.
  29. 7. For Windows 3.1 users, open the Program manager, open the History of Denim program group, and double-click on the History of Denim program icon.

  33. What gets Installed?
  34.  
  35. The installer for the History of Denim will install the following:
  36.  
  37. - The History of Denim folder: a folder containing the application and its XTRAs.
  38.  
  39. - The History of Denim application: the program file that you double-click to run.
  40.  
  41. - XTRAS folder: a folder containing files need by the application.
  42.  
  43. - QuickTime dlls: the extensions needed to run the movies.

  47. Notes on using the program
  48.  
  49. - Volume for the program is set in your Sound control panel or with your external speakers.
  50.  
  51. - Occasionally you will need to click on a palette to select it before moving it, clicking on a button or selecting an item in the scrolling list.

  53. - This program was not specifically designed to run on NT but it should run. If you encounter error messages on startup, just click ok and continue.

  55. - If you have have problems viewing the movies on the CD you should try adjusting the settings in your QuickTime Control Panel.

  57.     1. Open your Control Panels, then open the 
  58.         QuickTime Control Panel
  59.     2. Click on the More button at the bottom.
  60.     3. Select the Video tab at the top.
  61.     4. Try changing the "Draw Method" settings until video plays.
